I'm an ordinary person, nothing special about me. I'm just a 15
year old girl that likes to play Pokemon and goof off. When I was
younger, I never expected to get into hacks and such in my
games. That changed when I was around 9 or 10. I was at Game
stop when I stumbled upon an Action Replay. My mom bought
it for me and I immediately went home to use it on my Diamond
version. I saw no harm in it, I had already beat the elite four so
what's a little hacking going to do? I got more into hacking
around the ages of 13 and 14. I searched the internet for codes
to get certain Pokemon, modifier codes, item codes, etc. One
code I found changed all of this, though. A shiny Eevee code. The
eevee code that changed my outlook on hacking, whether it be
by using Action Replay or any other device.
It was just another Saturday afternoon. I was talking to a close
friend of mine on Skype and playing Pokemon, as usual. His
birthday was coming up soon and I couldn't ship anything over
to where he lived. My dad wouldn't allow it, and I didn't have
any money to buy a gift card or anything that he could use on an
online game or something. The next best thing I could do was to
get him a special Pokemon for his game. His favorite Pokemon
was Umbreon, but a normal Umbreon wouldn't do. I needed to
get a shiny Umbreon. My friend's birthday was a week away, so
that was enough time to get started on a shiny hunt.
A little about my friend. He didn't have a very good home life,
which was why I tried to be online as much as possible for him.
In fact, he was treated as if he were much younger than he was.
His parents would never let him go out, they treated him like a
little kid. I lived all the way across the state from him, so going
to visit him was impossible. And even if it wasn't, his parents
wouldn't trust a complete stranger in their house. This is one
reason why I wanted to get him such a special Pokemon for his
game, I couldn't send him a single thing. I hated it.
I started up my Pokemon Black version, this was the version I
normally used. I walk my trainer into the closest Pokemon
center and look through my Pokemon storage.  Good. I have
every Eevee evolution to choose from, and a Ditto to breed it
with. I took my Zoroark and Serperior out of my party and
replace the empty slots with the Ditto and an Espeon. I then
proceeded to walk to Route 3.
Once at Route 3, I walk into the Day Care Center and talk to the
woman. I press the A button rapidly to quickly get through her
text, then drop off both the Espeon and Ditto into the center. I
moved my trainer out of the building and talk to the man.
"Your Espeon and Ditto are doing just fine. The two of them
seem to get along."
Good. Maybe I could get some eggs soon. I return to the
Pokemon Center and drop off all but 1 of my Pokemon into the
PC so I can hold as many eggs as possible. I keep my Reshiram,
BlackFire in my party and proceed back onto Route 3. In a
matter of minutes, I already had an egg. Now, comes the fun
part of shiny hunting... Hatching a million and one eggs until a
shiny hatches out. Fun.
I had been playing my game for a couple of hours, and no luck.
My DS's battery had ran low so I had it on charger while I
played. I have probably gone through an entire box full of eggs
with no luck. That's fine though, I have the whole rest of the
week... I continued playing until I gave up and went to bed. No
luck today.

-------------------

One day left. One day. ONE DAY. There was no way I could get
this shiny Eevee! For one thing, I didn't have the patience to
keep playing all day, and I was stressing about it too. I sighed
and put my DS down. This was going no where. I put my DS to
the side for now and turned on my computer. I couldn't do the
shiny hunt on my own. I just couldn't. I went to Google and
typed in the words "Shiny Eevee AR code for Pokemon Black". I
was greeted with a single result. I clicked on it. It was a long
code, but I was willing to put it in to get the Pokemon for my
friend. I saved Pokemon Black and turned it off. I took the
cartridge out and put my Action Replay in. I entered the code,
and put the cartridge into the slot on the AR.
I booted the game up. This could would make my next egg a
shiny Eevee, guaranteed. I launched my save file, and was
already on Route 3. My party was empty except for my
Reshiram when I talked to the man. I took the egg and opened
up my party.
"Bad Egg"
What was this? I've heard it was a glitch that would corrupt
your game or something, but I was determined to hatch it in
case it might be the shiny Eevee. If it wasn't I would just shut
my game off. I moved my trainer back and forth for a few
minutes before I got a message.
"What?"
Then I was taken to the screen where the egg would hatch.
"Congratulations! Your egg hatched into and Eevee!"
YES! A shiny Eevee. I had gotten the Eevee. Something was a
little off though. I had no option to nick name it. I opened up my
party and examined it. "EEeEE". EEeEE? That was the name of
the Pokemon. Level 1 male Eevee named EEeEE. His moves
were Swift, Sand Attack, Scratch, and Growl. Seems simple
enough, I guess. Although I knew the moves had to be off. It
didn't matter. I would evolve this Eevee into Umbreon and give
it to my friend for his birthday. I was tired though, it was pretty
late. I would have time in the morning to evolve EEeEE.

-----------------------

Today was it. Today was the day I would evolve EEeEE and give
him to my friend. Before I started my game up, I logged onto
Skype. I was immediately greeted by a message from the same
friend I was giving this Pokemon too. The message made my
heart sink.
"I'm tired of the way my parents treat me. I'm not a little kid

anymore. I'm leaving. You may never see me again. Goodbye."
...
.....
.......
It took me a while to get a grasp on the message. No, he
wouldn't do this, would he? I tried to message him back. I
waited for a few hours and no response. Eventually, his status
changed to offline. He had to be gone, he did do it. He fucking did
it. I don't know where he's gone, and there's nothing I can do
about it. All I have now is this little Eevee that I was going to
give him. My heart was broken. I wanted to cry, but I couldn't. I
couldn't take a chance of crying and my dad walking in and
seeing me, so I didn't. I would try to find comfort in the little
Eevee named EEeEE that was meant to be for him.
I turn to grab my DS and open it up. Surprisingly, the game was
already up and running. I didn't remember turning it on, but
then again I was so upset that if I had turned it on I might have
forgotten. I went to train EEeEE in the tall grass, and would
later move on to train it in the Elite Four. I move my trainer
around the grass.
"A wild Blitzle appeared!"
"Go, EEeEE!"
EEeEE was sent out into battle. I returned EEeEE since he was
too weak right now, and sent out my Reshiram.
"Blitzle used Tackle!"
"It's not very effective.."
"What will BlackFire do?"
Fiht.
Flamethrower.
"BlackFire used Flamethrower!"
"Wild Blitzle fainted!"
It was over kill, yes, but I didn't want EEeEE to be knocked out.
This process continued for about 15 minutes when I was cut off
by an Eevee cry. I was greeted with a text box.
"EEeEE wants to battle!"
"When you're stronger.." I whisper into my DS, as if it could
hear me, which I knew it couldn't. Another Eevee cry went off
but I was  free to move again. A few battles later, I came to the
evolution screen.
"What? EEeEE is evolving!"
I watched the screen. EEeEE was evolving into an Espeon. No.
You needed to be an Umbreon. You were meant for my friend.
Please, be Umbreon. I press B and turn the game off, figuring
since EEeEE had already started evolving into Espeon, he
wouldn't be able to evolve into Umbreon anymore.
When I started my game back up, I didn't even have to click on
the save file. I was already back where I was when I turned the
game off. I saw an over world sprite of an Eevee run off from my
trainer sprite. It was a shiny Eevee. It was EEeEE!
EEeEE had ran off from me. I'm not entirely sure why, but
EEeEE had ran off from me. The only small comfort I had was
gone. I didn't know what I should do now.
I sit my DS off to the side for now, leaving it open, and watch
some youtube. Maybe that could get my mind off of things.
But it didn't.
I was greeted with this video in my news feed.
"Run away boy in Michigan found dead."
Please, tell me this isn't who I think it is. I clicked the video to
find out.
It was exactly who I thought it was. It was my friend, who had
ran away from home. He was found dead in a forest with claw
marks on his body. Something like a wolf, or a bear, had found
and killed him. I slammed my Laptop shut and return to my DS.
I was upset, shattered, but I still refused to let myself cry. If
anything, it would wait until my dad was asleep and I could let
all my emotions out. I tried to move this to the back of my mind
while I played my DS.
Suddenly, EEeEE meant a lot more to me than when I got the
message earlier. I HAD to find him. I searched all around Unova.
Every single city, Dragonspiral Tower, Victory Road, every
place I could think of and found nothing. I couldn't give up,
though. EEeEE was the only thing I had left of my friend. The
meant-to-be birthday present, the one that was going to be a
shiny version of his favorite Pokemon.
Then, I Remember one place I haven't looked.
Lostlorn Forest.
I used my Reshiram to fly to Nimbasa City, and ran to Lostlorn
Forest from there.
As soon as I walked into the forest, I ran into the over world
sprite of a shiny Eevee. No, it wasn't just a shiny Eevee
anymore. What I assumed was EEeEE now had the ears, tail,
and jewel of a shiny Espeon. Espeon, the Pokemon EEeEE
wanted to evolve into. Before I could move again, I was greeted
by a series of message boxes and Eevee cries.
"EEeEE only wanted to evolve"
"EEeEE tried to evolve by itself"
"EEeEE became stuck in evolution"
"EEeEE is in pain!"
"EEeEE ran away because he didn't want to be treated lesser
than what he really was!"
My heart dropped at the last comment. I had done to EEeEE the
same thing my friends parents had done to him.
"..."
Before I could do anything else, EEeEE ran off, and that's when I
heard the cry of a Zoroark. I pressed the B button hard and ran
towards the sound of the shrill EEeEE cry I heard.
I then came across a gruesome scene.
EEeEE was on the ground, covered in claw marks and was
bleeding. A Zoroark stood in front of it. It's claws were bloody as
well. It had attacked EEeEE.
This seemed all too ironic.
He was treated like a child.
EEeEE was treated like a child.
He ran away.
EEeEE ran away.
He was killed in a forest by a wild animal.
EEeEE had been attacked in Lostlorn Forest by a wild Zoroark.
WHY was this happening?
The Zoroark readied a final blow against EEeEE, but I ran my
trainer inbetween the two Pokemon and intervened.
I got into a wild encounter with the Zoroark.
"A wild Zoroark appeared!"
"Go, BlackFire!"
I was starting to put the pieces together. EEeEE almost seemed
to have been an incarnation of my friend.
I was going to kill this Zoroark, if the game allowed it.
And I hoped to God it would.
Fight.
Blue Flare.
You were about to wish you never attacked EEeEE, Zoroark.
"Reshiram used Blue Flare!"
To my surprise, Zoroark took nowhere near the amount of
damage I thought it would.  Upon further inspection, the
Zoroark was level 100. And probably had maxed out stats too.
God DAMN IT!
"Zoroark used Night Daze!"
My Reshiram's health went down by almost half. What was with
this Zoroark? Why was it so powerful?
The same two turns repeat. BlackFire using Blue Flare. Zoroark
using Night Daze. My Reshiram was almost out, and that's when
I got another message box.
"EEeEE wants to fight!"
Along with the yes or no options. I was about to hit no, when I
remembered the reason EEeEE ran off in the first place. I
pressed A on yes. Reshiram was instantly switched out with
EEeEE, who was a much higher level than expected. Had he
trained after he left?
EEeEE. Male Eevee. Level 80. I pressed A over fight, and his
mov eset surprised me. Shadow Ball, Morning Sun, Power Swap,
Psychic... Punishment.  Shadow Ball seemed to be the best move
to use here, since Psychic would have no effect and Punishment
would have little effect. I pressed A on Punishment, but Zoroark
was faster...
"Zoroark used Faint Attack!"
"It's super effective!"
EEeEE nearly fainted.
"EEeEE used Shadow Ball!"
"It's not very effective.."
Damn it! I never thought about Dark being resistant to Ghost. It
did little damage. On the next move, I chose Sunny Day. EEeEE
got to go first.
"EEeEE used Sunny Day!"
"EEeEE regained health!"
"Zoroark used Hone Claws!"
"Zoroark's attack rose!"
The only other attack I could use was Punishment. I pressed A
over it. Once again EEeEE went first surprisingly.
"EEeEE used Punishment!"
"It's not very effective..."
Surprisngly though, it dealt a lot more damage than Shadow Ball

and Reshiram's Blue Flare. I wondered why... Zoroark's health
went down by a fourth.
"Zoroark used Night Daze!"
"It's super effective!"
Once again, the attack nearly knocked EEeEE out.
The next turn, I had no option on what to do. It went on by
itself. EEeEE's sprite shook a little before the turn went through.
The words came up a little oddly, definitely different than usual.
"EEeEE"
"Used"
"PUNISHMENT!"
The attack sound was louder than usual, and Zoroark immediately
fainted. I went back to the over world, and EEeEE was facing me,
with the Zoroark on the ground. It wasn't dead, but I wish it
was. EEeEE walked up to my trainer. A text box popped up.
"EEeEE has rejoined your party."
The screen went black.
"The save file is corrupt."
...
I turned my DS off and back on, then deleted my file. There was
nothing I could do about corruption. I clicked new game and
what happened next surprised me. There was no opening intro.
In fact, I was already at the first route of the game. I opened up
the menu, first of all looking at my trainer card. My trainer was
female, and the name was set to "Brianna", as my last one was.
Next, I looked at my party.. There was one Pokemon.
EEeEE. I opened up his menu... Things were different.
"Evan. Level 5. Male Eevee*"
I closed the DS and started to cry.
The third, and hopefully final version of Prevention of Evolution! :iconeeeeetheeeveeplz:
To be honest, I like this version a lot better. It gets away from the BLOOD! GORE! BLOOD! GORE! cliche a lot of Pokepasta's have nowadays. I think this might be considered more of a sadpasta than a creepypasta, but oh well. It's something different.
Original: [link]
Version 2: [link]

I think I did a good job of this. Hopefully took out a lot of cliches, other than the Eevee and shiny Pokemon ones. Though, I swear, I promise I didn't know how over used Eevee's were when I wrote the original! xnx
I hope you all like this as much as I do!
IF SOMEONE KNOWS HOW I CAN CENTER THIS, THAT'D BE GREAT IF YOU COULD TELL ME

This isn't as bad as the terribly edgy original but it's still far from good.

The whole subplot about the friend is unnecessary and poorly executed. His few lines of dialog are flat and lack substance, and I didn't feel anything but annoyance when he randomly dies near the end in a very contrived way.

It also leads up to the cliche of "game has info from real life" at best and to the even worse cliche of "ghost haunting game" at worst.

It would've been much better to cut the friend out entirely and have the protagonist be the one with the shitty home life, and also change "treated as lesser" to "treated as a disappointment".

Her parents could have had unrealistic expectations of her, or even just ones that don't match her own goals and passions in life. This would parallel how she wants to evolve EEeEE into an Umbreon despite him wanting to evolve into an Espeon.

The wham line would be something like "EEeEE is tired of never being good enough!" or "EEeEE will never be what you want it to be!", causing the protagonist to realize that she is doing the very thing her parents are doing to her.

This would make the line much more personal to the protagonist since she would know exactly how it feels to never be good enough due to experiencing it firsthand.

The battle with the Zoroark at the climax could be kept, but would instead be a metaphor for the protagonist fighting off her own inner demons. Zoroark being a dark type would lend itself perfectly to this.

At the end, instead of having her friend's name, EEeEE would either keep his name or have it changed to "Bri"/"Bree". Assuming "Brianna" is the protagonist's actual name, this would confirm EEeEE's connection to her without the need to change his gender, and would avoid the "real life info" cliche since the protagonist put her own name in the game already.

Not only would the story make more sense this way and be much more impactful, it would also open up the possibility of a "maybe magic, maybe mundane" type of ambiguity. Was EEeEE real or was he just a projection of the protagonist's feelings? The reader would be able to interpret it either way.

Overall, this is a story with potential that it just doesn't reach in its current form.

PS: I know this journal post is super old, but I wanted to put my two cents in regardless.
